Children’s behavior delights me! It is both a subtle and undeniably flamboyant language filled with meaning. My whole working life has been a journey to understand this language. It helps that I love to connect with people playfully and imaginatively. A desire to learn this language has been the magic that opens the door to a child’s world and allows me to get close, be trusted and eventually understand.
An immense love of learning tempers my playful attitude. With a master’s degree in education and teaching certificates in Montessori education, I started my career as a teacher and eventually a school counselor. I connected children’s natural curiosity about the world to a love of learning and removed barriers to that learning. I have a master’s degree in behavioral science which led me to become a family therapist. Further education has led me to specialize in children and teens. At heart I am family centered because I believe to be truly helpful, the environment around the child can shape them.
To work with parents, I sought more masters level work to become a Certified Parent Coach. Now I get to use all that I have learned to translate the language of children and teens for parents. I get to help them navigate these raucous and impetuous years to create the most loving and of course playful family connections.
