Do you want to stay connected to your children?
Are you unsure how to create your own parenting style?
Are you prepared for what’s next?
There are several major life challenges our families can face. Separation, illness, death, job changes, dealing with developmental issues in our children; any of these can impact how we feel about ourselves and who we are as a parent. Parent coaching can help.
When life throws these at us, emotions understandably run high, and our creative thinking runs low. Instead of responding thoughtfully we tend to default back to old and unhelpful patterns such as respond to our spouse or children from a place of fear or anger.
Divorce
Perhaps one of the most common and emotionally demanding life transitions you can go through. The tasks you must accomplish might seem monumental. Ironically during one of the most stressful times in life, you need to function at a peak intellectual level. You need to negotiate a separation with your former spouse, have the time, energy and compassion to be responsive to your children, bring in an income, and create a new home life – all the while dealing with a truckload of emotions.
In this arena, parent coaching supports separating/divorcing couples as they work to set up two households, parenting plans, residential schedules and learn to navigate their new form of relationship as co-parents. We also help people who are entering into another marriage forming a blended family or bi-nuclear family. Our focus is to work with either the individual, the couple and/or the family to offer practical tools and insights as everyone strives to manage these challenges and create a new and stable life.
What to do
If you are facing any of these challenges such as health issues, death, job change or other life changes, you are likely experiencing major shifts in three key areas: comfort, stability, and safety. How your family makes this transition is important and highly individualized. Together, through parent coaching, we can help you become clear about what is most important to you and your family. We can manage the impact of divorce on your children, and we can create a thoughtful plan to help you make it through successfully and get to that new place in life.
